About 50 people gathered for a panel discussion and soup supper, 5:30-8 pm at St. Andrew United Methodist Church
They heard a timely panel discussion exploring the growing threats to public education from extremist religious agendas and the expanding charter school movement. Local experts will examine how initiatives like LifeWise and Project 2025 are reshaping the educational landscape and undermining the separation of church and state.
Speakers:
Melissa Bellows, a parent of three and a teacher in the Tippecanoe County School System.
Dr. Christy Wessel-Powell, Associate Professor at Purdue University. Dr. Wessel Powell’s scholarship focuses on literacy and equity.
Ben Lathrop, Dean's Doctoral at Fellow Purdue University whose research focuses on topics that include White Christian Nationalism and misinformation.
